Sapi gerumbungan is a traditional event held every Friday evening in Kaliasem, Lovina. it is not merely a bull race, some shows are also introduced before the bull race begins.

The interesting thing is all cows that are raced on the muddy track are beautifully decorated. The Cows to be raced on the muddy track are usually in pair. They are tied one another on their necks with wood and head are colorfully decorated. And for this competition there will be 50 contestants, huge crowded will come for the fun.

Before the bull race begins, the guests are entertained with live traditional music. A group of women performance traditional activity, hit the rice on lumpang (wooden made receptacle) using alu (a strong long wood) with their hands. This activity generates “wood” music. Later on, the guests are entertained with martial art performed by two men.

The race is begun as the cows run on the muddy track. In the beginning, they run slowly but on the second and third race they run quickly. Usually there are three pairs of cows on the track and each pair is stirred by a man who sits behind on the wood.

Race for fun, entertain everybody is the aim of the competion then we just can say keepin’ watching and take a chance to try it, Dude!!
