Purancak is located on the Southern coastal area of West Ball. At the West tip of Purancak village there is atemple named Purancak Temple facing west towards Purancak rive :with its calm water while wild coastal vegetations grow the both side of the river. The river used to be known occupied by crocodiles, however it is now just a story since they have been extinct since long time. The ocean is just about 250 m to the South with its clear blue water while the eastern tip of East Java seen in the distance. On the right side of the estuary are rows of traditional houses under coconut trees with leaves waving in the breeze.

Location
Purancak Beach is located about 10 km South east of Tegal Cangkring village, district of Negara, Jembrana regency. It is about 96 km in distance from Denpasar following the main road from Denpasar to Gilimanuk up to the junction road at Tegal Cangkring then turn left to the South for about 10 km more. The road is good enough to be passed on by any kind of motor vehicle.

Facility
On the South-west, of Purancak Temple is a bungalow as a resting - place. To enjoy the view along the river one can rent traditional rowing boat at the estuary.About 1 km to the north-east of the temple towards the main road, one can find a board with a sign : “The road to buffalo race” and from here one can turn to the North up to Tibukleneng recreational Park, Purancak.

Description
Purancak Temple is assumpted to be built in around XVI century which is related to the holy journey of Danghyang Nirartha to Ball from Blambangan, East-Java as previously mentioned. It was at this place He once took a rest for a while under an “Ancak” (a kind of ficus) tree, accompanied by some sheppherds. Later, a temple was built on this place called : “Purancak (derived from the word “ancak” tree) temple, since this was the place he landed for the first time, before going on
visiting the other places in Ball. Like the other temples in Ball in general, Purancak Temple is divided into three main parts i.e: “Jaba” (outer court-
yard), “Jaba tengah” (middle courtyard) and “Jeroan” (inner courtyard) as the holiest part. Between “Jaba” and “Jaba tengah” is connected with a split gate called “Candi bentar” while “Jaba tengah” and “Jeroan” is connected with an archway called: “Candi Kurung” or “Kori Agung”. There are fourteen holy shrines located inside the inner courtyard (”jeroan”) with the most important is a three storey roofed shrine called: “Meru Tumpang Tiga” to worship the holy spirit of “Danghyang Nirartha”/ so the main function of Purancak Temple is to worship the greatness of the Highpriest Danghyang Nirartha or known more as “Ida Pedanda Sakti Wawu Rauh” (the just coming Mighty Highpriest). There is also an effigy kept inside the holy shrine made of sandalwood tree about 21 cm in height figurating a sitting (leg folded) high-priest in complete dress (with crown) ornamented with gold. The temple will be overcrowded with its adherents from Jembrana regency itself as well as from the other regencies in Bali on the temple’s anniversary celebration coming once in’
every 210 days according to the Balinese calendar.
